Asian-Style Coleslaw is a delicious and easy recipe. It is also a healthy, low calories, low carbohydrates, low cholesterol, low sodium heart-healthy and Weight Watchers (3) PointsPlus recipe. Ingredients include: Napa cabbage, snow peas, pears, and bell peppers with a made from scratch dressing and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Easy, delicious and healthy. Makes 6 servings. Asian-Style Coleslaw will be loved by all of your family, friends and guests.
2 tbsp canola oil
2 tbsp orange juice
2 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp brown sugar
1-1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp salt
6 cups thinly sliced Napa cabbage
1 small red bell pepper, cut into thin 2 inch strips (1 cup)
3 oz snow pea pods, cut into thin strips (1 cup)
1 unpeeled, firm ripe pear, cut into 1/2″ cubes
1 tsp sesame seed, toasted* (see note below recipe)
1. Mix oil, orange juice, vinegar, sugar, ginger and salt in small bowl until well blended.
2. Mix Napa cabbage, bell pepper, snow peas and pear together in a large bowl. Add dressing; toss to coat well. Cover. Refrigerate 1 hour or until ready to serve. Sprinkle with sesame seed before serving.
Toasting Sesame Seed:
Heat small skillet over medium heat. Add sesame seed; cook and stir 2 minutes or until golden brown and fragrant. Immediately pour out of hot pan to avoid over toasting.
